6 Ramen Recipes For Your Cold Nights
This time of year, there’s nothing like a hot bowl of ramen to warm up your bones. Whether you spent the day snowboarding, or just working in the cold, it’s good to have a hot dinner to come home to.
But all by itself, ramen can leave you wanting more. It’s a great snack, but at the end of the day, it’s just broth and noodles. If you want something that really sticks to your ribs, you’ll need to use your ramen as the foundation for a larger meal.
At Mike’s Mighty Good, we’re always coming up with ways to spice up our creations. Here are six ramen noodle recipes that are so delicious, you’ll forget you’re eating ramen. All of these recipes take just a few minutes to prepare and cook, and make 1 or more servings, depending on the recipe.
Beef & Miso Ramen
For a hearty, protein-rich meal, it’s tough to do better than steak and eggs. With Beef & Miso Ramen, you get all the deliciousness of steak and eggs, with all the warmth of a soothing bowl of miso ramen. Add in some green onions, red pepper, and cilantro, and you’ve got a delicious meal that’s tangy, spicy, and savory all at once. We love it with our Savory Miso Ramen.
Comforting Chicken Ramen Noodle Bowl
The chicken breast is the main attraction of the Comforting Chicken Ramen Noodle Bowl, but the real secret is the garlic and green onion. Cabbage gives you a bit of bulk, and enhances the flavor. Top it off with a hard boiled egg, and you’ll be pleased with the results. We love this with our Chicken Ramen Cup or Fried Garlic Chicken Pillow Pack flavors.
The best ramen to make these recipes with with our Original Best-Sellers Ramen Cup Sampler. This sampler allows you to try all of our best-selling flavors and is the ultimate ramen kit. It has 6 units each of our Chicken, Spicy Beef, Vegetarian Vegetable, and Pork Tonkotsu Cups.
Coconut Curry Ramen
Coconut Curry Ramen is bold and spicy, with curry paste, cloves, and vinegar to flavor the ground chicken. At the same time, coconut helps to cool things down, and adds a hint of sweetness. Peanuts round out the flavor profile, and also provide some welcome crunch. You can make this ridiculously good recipe with any of our ramen flavors.
Cheesy Egg Drop Ramen
What’s better than egg drop soup? How about some Cheesy Egg Drop Ramen? It’s like regular ramen, but before it’s done cooking, you drop your whisked egg into the pot. Green onions and sesame seeds provide texture and flavor. Your mouth will be watering before you even melt the cheese over the top. This recipe is amazing with our Spicy Beef or Vegetarian Kimchi Ramen flavors.
Pork Belly Ramen
There’s nothing like fatty, savory pork to warm you up in the winter. Our Pork Belly Ramen recipe combines pork flavored ramen, pork belly, and a delicious soft boiled egg. Shitake mushrooms add even more bulk and flavor, and the soy and garlic sauce is a perfect match for pork belly. You can make this with any of our ramen flavors, but we especially love it with our Pork Tonkotsu Cup or Spicy Pork Tonkotsu Pillow Pack.
Vegan Spicy Cheesy Ramen
Who says you have to be a meat eater to enjoy a hearty bowl of ramen? The Vegan Spicy Cheesy Ramen combines our Vegetarian Kimchi Ramen with vegan cheese, chili flakes, and vegan sriracha. The result is a guilt-free cheesy, spicy creation with a creamy noodle sauce.
Key Ingredients for Winter Ramen
Want to create your own unique recipe? With Mike’s Mighty Good ramen as a base, it’s hard to go wrong. Make your own creation, using ingredients that are ideal for the season. We love this guide we made on ramen toppings.
One thing you’ll notice is that we use onion in a lot of our recipes. Onion is great for any season, and is a part of many styles of cooking. But we also frequently make use of green onion. Green onion has a milder flavor, less noticeable texture, and is ever so slightly savory. This makes it perfect for warming winter ramen.
Eggs are another great ingredient. They’re found in ramen during all seasons, but they can tend to be a bit heavy on a hot summer day. When you come in from the cold, adding a couple eggs to your ramen will provide the fuel you need to feel warm and toasty.
Beef is another great ingredient. Whether in chunks or in strips, it has a strong umami flavor you won’t get from other meats. It pairs best with bolder ramens that will compliment its taste.
Cheese and vegan cheese are another great choice. We all like a cold slice of deli cheese when the weather is hot. But in the winter time, gooey, melted cheese can be a great addition to almost any recipe.
Pepper and red pepper can add kick to an otherwise mild dish. Hot, spicy food can be just the pick me up you need on a dreary winter day.
Cabbage adds texture and bulk. It also provides a milder flavor of its own, which pairs well with chicken, cheese, or pork.
Peanuts are a major ingredient in many ramen recipes. But during winter time in particular, the extra fat and healthy oil will help you get through the day.
